Oregon’s Breeze Named Campbell Trophy Semifinalist

IRVING, Texas – Oregon senior safety Brady Breeze has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the “academic Heisman” award that UO quarterback Justin Herbert won in 2019.

The Campbell Trophy, which is presented by the National Football Foundation, honors academic and athletic success along with leadership and community achievement. Herbert was the first winner from the UO football program and the third finalist, along with fellow quarterbacks Bill Musgrave and Dennis Dixon.

A native of Lake Oswego, Breeze was the defensive MVP of Oregon’s Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin in January. A few days later he began his final quarter as an undergraduate student at the university, before graduating in March with a degree in General Social Science: Applied Economics, Business and Society, and a 3.23 grade-point average.

Breeze is a three-time member of the Pac-12 Conference’s all-Academic team, and made the University of Oregon’s Dean’s List for the winter quarter in 2019. On the field, he has started four games and made 38 appearances over the last three years, leading the Ducks in tackles in both the 2019 Pac-12 Championship victory over Utah and the Rose Bowl.
