EUGENE – Oregon true freshman Janice Tjen became the first player in program history to earn Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year honors following the announcement of the conference’s postseason awards Thursday.

Tjen was also named first-team All-Pac-12 while Rifanty Kahfiani and Uxia Martinez Moral earned honorable mention recognition.

The freshman from Jakarta, Indonesia, is the first Oregon player to be named first-team all-conference since 2004 (Daria Panova) and only the second different Duck to earn league postseason honors since 2007 (Alyssa Tobita – 2017, 2018).

Tjen heads into this weekend’s NCAA Singles Championships ranked No. 17 in the ITA Singles Rankings after going 18-2 in singles play during the regular season at the No. 1 spot. Earlier in the season, Tjen became the first Oregon player since 2018 to earn Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, taking home the recognition on April 8. She beat a pair of top-50 singles opponents in matches against Cal and Stanford while helping the Ducks to their first win over the Cardinal in program history on April 4. Tjen also went unbeaten through her first 11 career matches and ended the year 13-4 in doubles play, paired primarily with Lillian Mould.

Kahfiani and Martinez Moral each earned honorable mention all-conference recognition after turning in strong seasons. Martinez Moral went 14-6 in singles, primarily at the No. 4 spot, while Kahfiani spend most of the season at No. 3 and went 11-6. The pair played all but two matches together at the No. 1 doubles spot, going 10-4 in those matches.
