CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State Volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Academic Award following the 2023-24 academic year, as announced on Wednesday morning.
The award – initiated in the 1992-93 academic year – honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average during the 2023-24 year.
Oregon State maintained a 3.50 GPA for the school year and saw six student-athletes carry cumulative GPAs of 3.50 or better. Five Beavers earned spots on the Pac-12’s Academic Honor Roll following the season and Ryan White – for the second consecutive year – was selected Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators for her work in the classroom.
The Beavers were one of eight Pac-12 teams to garner the AVCA’s award.
The honor marks the first AVCA Academic Award of the Lindsey Behonick era, 12th for the program, and fifth since the 2014-15 academic year.
Oregon State opens the second year under Behonick’s direction with the annual Orange and Black scrimmage in one month – August 17 – inside Gill Coliseum before beginning the season in Phoenix on August 30th against Fresno State in the GCU Tournament.
