OSU VB: Vernon, White Sweep Player of the Week Honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Behind an undefeated mark after a pair of five-set matches, Oregon State has swept the Pac-12’s Players of the Week as Ryan White (defensive) and Mychael Vernon (offensive) were honored on Monday afternoon.

Vernon helped lead the Beavs with a pair of double-doubles in the wins against the Arizona schools with 38 kills divided evenly across the weekend. In the upset of No. 19 Arizona State, she helped on the defensive end with 13 digs and pushed across 19.5 points. The outside hitter from New York capped her weekend with a season-high 21 digs and hit .313 to help OSU complete the five-set win over Arizona. Vernon has registered seven double-doubles on the season, including three in league play. She sits in sixth place in the league with 243 kills and eighth with 3.47 kills/set.

White, the libero, totaled 43 digs in her weekend against the Arizona schools. She finished with 23 against Arizona, just one shy of matching her career best set earlier this season. The Washingtonian helped on the offensive end with nine assists, including five in the win over the Sun Devils on Friday night. She sits in sixth in the league with 246 digs and seventh in digs/set with 3.51.

Oregon State completed their first home sweep of the Arizona opposition at home since the 2017 season and will complete a four-match homestand when they take on the Bay Area schools this weekend. The Beavers will host Stanford in a nationally-televised match on Friday, set for 7 p.m. before closing the weekend with California on Sunday at noon.
