EUGENE – The Oregon women’s golf team will make its 13th straight NCAA Regional appearance after earning the No. 4 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional on Wednesday.
The Ducks have reached an NCAA Regional every year since 2008, not counting the 2019-20 season that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the program’s 25th all-time NCAA Regional appearance.
“We are extremely excited to be heading to Baton Rouge with a chance to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships,” said head coach Derek Radley. “I am so proud of all of the hard work our student-athletes have put in this season, and their efforts were rewarded with this selection. This has been a great season for us and we are looking forward to keeping it going.”
Oregon is the No. 4 seed among 18 total teams at the Baton Rouge Regional – hosted by LSU – which is set for May 10-12 at The University Club. The top six teams out of the regional advance to the NCAA Championships, slated for May 21-26 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
UO finished ninth in its last NCAA Regional appearance in 2019. The Ducks’ best-ever NCAA Regional finish was a third-place showing in 2017.
The Ducks have advanced to the NCAA Championships as a team 10 times in the program’s history, including four times since 2010 (2010, 2013, 2016, 2017). Oregon’s best finish at the NCAA Championships came in 2016, when the Ducks reached the match play portion and tied for fifth overall at Eugene Country Club.
Oregon is No. 12 in the most recent Golfstat national rankings, and the Ducks tied for fifth at last weekend’s Pac-12 Championships. That marked Oregon’s best conference finish since 2015, and extended UO’s top-five streak to eight straight tournaments and 12 of the last 13.
