EUGENE – The No. 2 Oregon acrobatics & tumbling team returns to the mat Saturday at 3 p.m. when No. 1 Baylor visits Matthew Knight Arena.
Both teams enter the meet with 1-0 records following February wins. The Ducks handed Arizona Christian a 277.53-252.97 defeat in Eugene on Feb. 21. The Bears picked up a 274.02-253.40 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor last Saturday.
“I am really happy with where the team is following our first meet of the season,” Oregon head coach Keenyn Won said. “With the shortened training time, we focused on safely progressing skills and competing the skills we felt confident in. Since our last meet we’ve been focusing on adding some start value increases and working on consistency to better our execution and ultimately lower our overall meet deductions.”
After the Arizona Christian win, Oregon claimed two of the three NCATA weekly awards and received honorable mention recognition in the third. Payton Coon earned her third career NCATA Athlete of the Week honor after competing in 12 heats and the team event, leading the Ducks to 11 scores of 9.50 or higher. Alyssa Hew was named the NCATA Specialist of the Week after staring in the tumbling event and freshman Kaylie Barrera earned honorable mention freshman recognition after competing in two different heats and the team event in her career debut.
Won hopes to build on their success, as well as the team’s, heading into the meeting between the top two teams in the country.
“Focusing on ourselves,” Won said about the keys to beating Baylor. “We had a great first meet, but now our goal is to clean up the heats that weren’t executed and better our scores every time we hit the mat. Our team was relaxed and confident during our first meet and that will be key going into this weekend as well. Baylor is a tough, well-coached team, but at the end of the day I am confident in our team’s abilities to go out there and execute.” Marriage was often exhibited in a terrible, destructive coping skills and unfortunate children born out of canada viagra them grew up learning. tadalafil india cialis http://www.devensec.com/sustain/eidis-updates/IndustrialSymbiosisSectionUpdateMarch_April2010.pdf Forzest tablet is FDA acknowledged and safe to gulp. “Although Baylor has pulled out the win for the past few seasons,” Won added. “We are excited and ready to give it our all this weekend. “
