#Pac12Volleyball: Three Oregon Players Named To All-Region Team

EUGENE – Oregon landed three players on the AVCA Pacific North All-Region Team following a vote by coaches in the region. Karson Bacon, Gloria Mutiri and Brooke Nuneviller each received the honor while Georgia Murphy earned all-region honorable mention recognition.

Nuneviller and Mutiri both earned AVCA All-Region Freshman of the Year honors in 2018, with Nuneviller earning it in the Pacific North Region and Mutiri in the Midwest Region while playing for Kansas State. Mutiri was also named to the All-Midwest Region Team in 2018 while Nuneviller earned Pacific North Region honorable mention recognition. Bacon secured her first career all-region honors.

Nuneviller led the team in both kills and digs, finishing the regular season averaging 3.54 kills and 3.83 digs per set. She was one of just five players in the country and the only one at a Power 5  school to average at least 3.5 kills and 3.8 digs per set in the regular season. Nuneviller was also the only Pac-12 player to lead her team in both kills and digs and the only one to finish in the top 10 of the league in both those categories. Her 15 double-doubles on the season led the Pac-12 were four more than the player in second place.

The Chandler, Ariz. turned in one of the best individual performances in school and conference history when she put down 35 kills on 65 swings with just one error vs. Washington on March 7. She is the only Pac-12 player in the rally scoring era to have at least 35 kills and one or fewer errors in a match while her 35 kills rank seventh in program history. Nuneviller also became the first player to earn both Pac-12 Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors in the same week following wins over Arizona in February.

Mutiri ended the regular season second on the team in both kills and hitting percentage, averaging 2.58 kills per set while hitting .262. She also put up a big block on the outside, averaging 0.65 blocks per set. Mutiri put up double-figures in kills while hitting over .300 in five matches while also leading the team in kills five times. She put up big numbers in a pair of five-set wins at USC on February 5 and 7, hitting .360 while recording 24 total kills in the two matches.

Bacon finished the regular season fourth in the conference in hitting percentage at .349. She hit at least .400 in a match in which she had at least 10 attack attempts seven times this year and led the team in hitting percentage in a match eight times. The sophomore averaged 1.83 kills per set in addition to 0.94 blocks per game, highlighted by a back-to-back seven-block outings in two of the final three matches.
