The program has planted more than 45,000 trees at the Sandy River Delta since 2014
PORTLAND, Ore. (Feb. 23, 2024) – On February 23, join the Portland Trail Blazers and Daimler Truck North America incelebrating 10 years of the 3’s For Trees program with Friends of Trees, where for every Trail Blazer and Blazer5 Gaming three-pointer scored, three trees are planted. The night will showcase the positive environmental impact the partnership has made on the Sandy River Delta in Troutdale, Oregon as the program surpassed 45,000 trees planted earlier this season.
“A focus on sustainability is a key part of our culture at Daimler Truck North America, and we’re very proud to celebrate ten years of the 3’s for Trees partnership with the Trail Blazers and Friends of Trees,” said Angela Lentz, Chief People Officer, Daimler Truck North America, “Together we’ve been able to plant over 45,000 trees and create a lasting and positive impact for the team, its fans, our employees and the community.”
In total, the program has planted 19 acres of trees, the equivalent of 171 basketball courts. As these plants mature, they will absorb 40 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere and provide enough oxygen for 90,000 people annually, generating clean air for years to come.
“We’re so grateful for the Portland Trail Blazers and Daimler Truck North America’s support for trees and community over the past decade,” said Executive Director Yashar Vasef. “The 3’s for Trees partnership has had a real impact, as thousands of volunteers have planted over 45,000 trees. We’re thrilled to be celebrating this 10-year milestone and can’t wait for the future of this partnership!”
The game will highlight local nonprofit partner Friends of Trees for their work facilitating the planting of each tree and their efforts to protect and restore forests of the Pacific Northwest. To support their mission, Trail Blazers fans can participate in the night’s 5050 Raffle, where a portion of all proceeds will go to Friends of Trees. Daimler Truck North America will also be donating to Friends of Trees with a check presentation at halftime. To learn more about Friends of Trees, fans can visit them on the concourse.
At halftime, one lucky fan will be selected to compete in thehalftime three-point challenge, where they’ll get the chance to contribute to the 3’s for Trees program by knocking down their own three-pointers. Off the court, fans can play Hoop Heroes Presented by Daimler Truck North America through the Trail Blazers App’s Digital Arcade and make their own contribution – for every play, one tree is planted.
