EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon volleyball team will open the 2024 season as the No. 10 team in the AVCA preseason poll released Monday. This marks the second-consecutive season and third time in program history for the Ducks to start their year among the top-10 teams in the country.
Oregon was ranked No. 8 and 9 in the 2013 and 2023 preseason polls, respectively.
The 2024 season gets started Friday, Aug. 30, with a top-10 matchup at Matthew Knight Arena when Oregon hosts No. 4 Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. (PT). The Ducks will also face Long Beach State (Sept. 1) during the season-opening home weekend.
Single-match and season tickets are available through the UO ticket office or by clicking HERE.
The Ducks are set to play eight teams within in the top 25 of Monday’s poll—Nebraska (2), Wisconsin (3), Pittsburgh (4), Penn State (7), Purdue (8), BYU (16), Minnesota (18) and USC (21)—in addition to six others—Ohio State, UCLA, San Diego, Indiana, Washington and Colorado State—receiving votes.
Oregon was 29-6 last season and advanced to an NCAA regional final—Elite 8—for a second-consecutive year. The team returns nine from last year’s roster including junior Mimi Colyer who was selected to the Big Ten Preseason All-Conference Team. This year’s senior class includes returners Daley McClellan and Onye Ofoegbu and transfers Mackenzie Morris and Michelle Ohwobete.
Morris was a 2023 All-Big 12 Second Team performer for Kansas State while leading the conference with 468 digs and 4.82 digs per set. Ohwobete was the 2023 Big West Player of the Year for UC Santa Barbara and comes to Eugene with nearly 1,200 career kills.
Fans can get a second preseason look at the Ducks this Saturday, Aug. 24, with an exhibition at Oregon State. The match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start in Corvallis.
