PORTLAND, Ore. – Nov. 20, 2023 – The Rip City Remix (3-3) defeated the Ontario Clippers (4-1) by a final score of 104-103 on Monday night at the Chiles Center.
Malachi Smith led the Remix with a game-high 23 points along with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 34 minutes, while shooting 8-of-17 from the field and 4-of-8 from three. Moses Brown added a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, along with four blocks and a steal in 28 minutes. Rip City blocked 13 total shots on the evening, with five players recording at least one: Brown (4), Kris Murray (4), Jarrey Foster (2), Jamaree Bouyea (2) and Lacey James (1).
Jordan Miller scored 19 points for Ontario, along with six rebounds and an assist in 21 minutes, while shooting 4-of-11 from the field. Kobe Brown recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, with four assists and a block in 33 minutes while shooting 7-of-22 from the field.
Rip City came out of the locker room hot, starting the game with an 11-4 run, before Ontario tightened up and brought it within two, 22-20 after the first quarter. Malachi Smith scored 15 of his 23 points in the second quarter to lead the Remix, as they held a 12-point lead, 55-43 with just over two minutes left in the half. A Clippers run in the third quarter led to a back-and-forth fourth quarter, with the game tied at 101-101 with just under two minutes left. Smith provided the Remix the spark they needed, scoring his final seven points in the fourth quarter including clutch free throws in the final seconds.
