Rylan Johnson Shoots 7-Under In Second Round Of Amer Ari Invite

KOHALA COAST, Hawai’i – Rylan Johnson shot a 7-under 65, the best round of his collegiate career, to lead Oregon State on the second day of the Amer Ari Invitational on Sunday.

Johnson became the 12th Beaver in program history to finish with at least a 7-under in a single round. He posted nine birdies on Friday, and a team-high 13 over 36 holes.

Johnson is now tied for 17th – up from 49th – thanks to the round, and has shot a 9-under-135 over the first 36 holes. He now has six rounds under par this year and nine for his career.

The sophomore is tied with fellow teammates Mateo Fuenmayor and Jackson Lake. Fuenmayor finished at 5-under Friday, posting six birdies, while Lake ended the day with a 3-under 69 a day after tallying a 6-under 66.

Lake has 12 birdies at the event, with Fuenmayor close behind at 11.

Oregon State, as a team, finished with a 14-under 274 on Tuesday. The Beavers are tied for 10th after the first 36 with a 24-under 552 at the par-72,6,913-yard Mauna Lani North Course. OSU and UCLA, whom the Beavers are tied with, are just three shots behind Stanford and Georgia Tech, who each occupy seventh.

Nicolas Quintero, competing as an individual, finished at par on Friday and over two days is at 2-under 142. He is tied for 71st.

Collin Hodgkinson shot a 1-over 73 in the second round and is tied for 106th overall with a 4-over tally. Brandon Eyre, meanwhile, finished at 5-over Friday and heads into the final round tied for 114th with a 7-over 151.

The third and final round gets underway Saturday at 9:30 a.m. PT (7:30 p.m. in Hawai’i).
