FORT WORTH, Texas – Nate Stember fired a final-round 66 to finish tied for third at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. Stember led the 22nd-ranked Oregon men’s golf team to a fourth-place finish in a field that contained 13 other top 25 programs.
How It Happened
Stember entered the day 2-under in a tie for 15th on the leaderboard. The fifth-year senior sank four birdies and went bogey-free in the final 18 holes, finishing at 6-under and jumping 12 spots up the final standings. Greg Solhaug capped a solid tournament by shooting 1-under in the final round, finishing 4-under for the tournament and landing inside the top 10 for the first time this season.
Owen Avrit continued to provide consistency as he shot an even 70 in the third round, finishing 1-over and notching a top-25 finish. Greyson Leach logged a 72 in the third round, going 3-over for the tournament with 12 birdies.
After a difficult 36 holes on Monday, sophomore Aiden Krafft responded in a big way by shooting a 4-under 66 in his final round, providing an important boost to the Ducks’ overall score. Oregon improved its score in each of the three rounds, firing a 9-under 271 in the third – the second-lowest team score in the round. The Ducks ended the tournament just four strokes off the lead and finished above two top-five programs in Florida State and Georgia Tech.
