CORVALLIS, Ore. – Judy and Jim Street have made a leadership gift to the OSU Foundation that creates a permanent endowment for the Oregon State Wicks-Street Head Men’s Soccer Coach.
It is the second head coaching endowment in Oregon State history, joining the Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach position.
“All of us at Oregon State want to thank Judy and Jim Street for this generous gift to our athletic department and specifically the men’s soccer program,” Oregon State Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Barnes said. “The Street family has been loyal and dedicated supporters of Oregon State University and Beaver Athletics for several decades, and this new endowment will benefit our student-athletes to continue their success on and off the field in perpetuity.”
With the gift for men’s soccer, funds will be provided in perpetuity to the head coach to be used at their discretion for the program’s greatest needs. This will have a significant impact on student-athletes’ training, travel, and overall well-being.
“On behalf of our program, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Judy and Jim Street for this incredible gift to Oregon State men’s soccer,” Oregon State Wicks-Street Head Men’s Soccer Coach Greg Dalby said. “Their generosity ensures that so many more young men will experience all the value that comes along with being a student-athlete at Oregon State.
“Our mission, as a program, is to compete at the highest level of college soccer, develop players and people who will be successful on and off the field, and to create a culture where our players love being here,” Dalby added. “This gift secures our program’s future and allows us to double down on what matters most to Oregon State Soccer.”
The Oregon State men’s soccer team made its first-ever appearance in the College Cup last season and has advanced to postseason competition four-straight years. The Beavers are 21-9-8 under Dalby and will close out their regular season this Saturday against Portland at Merlo Field.
Judy Street, an Oregon State alumna, and an honorary trustee of the OSU Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and her husband, Jim, a graduate of the University of Michigan, have been long-time supporters of Beaver Athletics. They are football season ticket holders and supported the Paul Lorenz Field grandstand project. They have also supported OSU’s College of Engineering where Judy’s uncle, and a mentor to Jim, Charles Wicks, was a graduate and tenured professor. Both families have a deep history with soccer and have been passionate fans for more than 50 years.”
“It is our hope that this gift will enable Oregon State men’s soccer to continue to attract gifted student-athletes and coaches,” Judy Street said. “It is our belief that success in athletic programs benefits all aspects of higher education.”
“Judy and Jim’s strategic investment in this endowed head coach position for men’s soccer will make a difference for generations to come,” said Shawn L. Scoville, president and CEO of the Oregon State University Foundation. “Their gift also comes on the heels of the Ricci family’s endowed gifts for men’s and women’s basketball. These gifts are statements about the excellence and importance of Athletics at OSU. We are grateful.”
