Trio of Ducks Honored by Pac-12

 

EUGENE, Ore. – Following Oregon’s convincing 56-24 win at USC on Saturday, junior safety Brady Breeze, senior right tackle Calvin Throckmorton and freshman kick returner Mykael Wright claimed Pac-12 Conference player of the week honors on Monday.

Breeze, the league’s defensive player of the week, led the Ducks’ defense against the Trojans with an interception return for a touchdown, a fumble recovery and a career and team-high seven tackles. The junior recovered a USC fumble inside the Ducks’ 10-yard line to halt a Trojan drive with UO trailing 10-7 in the second quarter. After the Ducks turned the turnover into a touchdown to take the lead, Breeze picked off a pass on USC’s next possession and returned it 32 yards for a 21-10 Oregon lead.

Throckmorton, who earned the offensive lineman of the week honor for the second time in the last three weeks, finished as the highest-graded offensive lineman in the Pac-12 by Pro Football Focus. The senior did not allow a hit, hurry or pressure over his 58 snaps played.

Wright earned conference special teams player of the week honors after returning a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. The Ducks’ freshman, making his first career start as Oregon’s kick returner, finished the game with 144 yards on three kick returns. His touchdown came after USC narrowed Oregon’s lead to 21-17 with 20 seconds to play in the first half.
